What is going on?

Ok so I'm sitting here watching cartoons with my girls and since "sponge bob" ain't on we are instead watching "max and ruby".

Everytime I watch this show I can't help to wonder where are their parents? I know they have some otherwise they wouldn't be here in cartoon land, also during the theme song in the beginning if you look in the background there is a family picture that has max, ruby and what looks to be the missing parents, so where did they go?

Every now and again their grandma pops in on them and several other adults. Now why haven't these bunny adults taken max and ruby in? Everybody seems perfectly fine that two little kids one of which seems like he has a social disorder are living all on their own. Don't they have a bunny social services?

I have the same issue with Dora's parents. They let their kid go off with a monkey and travel to goddess knows where, while she encounters trolls and some kind of critter that is a criminal. Yet her parents have no problem letting their run off.

Cartoon parents are crazy. So what other cartoon have parents that are absent or neglectful?

It's that time if year again

Yep that's right it's HALLOWEEN!

I love this time of year. It's not crazy hot outside anymore nor is it freakishly cold either. Yet it seems like the last few years Halloween has lost some of its magic.

I remember growing up the weeks leading up to the holiday *yes I said holiday because for me and my family it's a holiday just like thanksgiving and Yule* you would see jack o lanterns , witches, and ghosts everywhere. There would be non stop spooky stuff on tv. Houses everywhere would be decorated. Then on Halloween night there would be swarms of kids on the streets, there would be so many kids that sometimes cars wouldn't be able to drive down the street. Every house would be lit up or at least have their front light on for the trick or treaters. It was a awesome time to be a kid.

I don't know when it happend or how it happend but it seems like Halloween died a little bit, stores no longer go all out with the spooky decorations, there is hardly any spooky shows on tv and no more of those Halloween specials we all loved to watch as kids, no longer do people decorate their houses let alone leave their lights on for the kids. Now a days maybe 1 house out of 5 will have their candy bowls filled and ready. No longer do kids run the streets in masses.

What happend to Halloween? Why do parents not bother to get their kids a costume but still drive them around to get free candy? Why are all the treat bowls that used to be overfilling with candy seem empty. Where are all the witches, ghosts, Gouls, and other critters that go bump in the night? Where is the man who would sit still as a statue and scare the pee out of you when you walked passed?

Every time we take our kids out to trick or treat it always makes me a bit sad for them, I wish my little ones could experience the Halloween night that I had as a child.

All I can do is hope that this year is better than the last or that a certain doctor and his blue box shows up so my kids can see how Halloween is supposed to be done
